Writing and sports have been lifelong passions for Ryan. Therefore, writing about sports was a logical way to mix the two passions together.

Ryan became hooked on baseball as a youngster in Maryland and considers Cal Ripken, Jr. his favorite player of all time.

Ryan’s baseball fever was further enhanced after a move to Florida where he attended countless spring training and minor league games with his mother.

It was during the Florida years Ryan grew to appreciate the soothing properties of a day by the water as well as a day spent in the ballpark. Despite now living in Texas, Ryan still returns to Florida each year for a week of Grapefruit League Spring Training games.

Prior to the arrival of COVID-19, Ryan attended 8-10 baseball games a month at various stadiums throughout the state and surrounding region. Ryan has a goal is to visit all 30 MLB ballparks at least once, while also visiting at least three new ballparks a year on the Independent, Minor, and Major League circuits.

Ryan is a firm believer in the power of story as it relates to journalism’s ability to present facts in a clear and entertaining way. A way which brings readers along for the journey.
